This phrase. This thought. This FEAR permeated my mind every day as I sat in my cubicle chair, doing work that was so far removed from what I felt I was supposed to do.
My main goal of the work day — to not look at the clock.
Because I knew if I did, I would think — it must be close to 5:00.
Then I’d look and realize it was only 2:15!
You might have seen this picture before, but here’s literally me in all my cubicle non-glory.
I’m pretty sure my exact thoughts while laying there on the floor were ––
There has to be more to life than this…
Well, that, and…
I should probably stop trying to drown my cubicle misery in more office birthday party cake.
This is also when I learned what I wrote in 101 Secrets For Your Twenties — the Freshmen-Fifteen is nothing compared to the Cubicle-Cincuenta.
It was that feeling, that gnawing fear, that extra piece of birthday cake, that put me on this decade long journey to figure out how some people live and work with purpose, while others stay stuck and frustrated.
